Know the Lingo: Lighting Techniques for Your Event October 15, 2020 – Posted in: General, Uncategorized

We’re in the business of lighting up your world, and so we’re obsessed with every detail when it comes to setting up lighting in the venue for your event. However, we understand that as an event planner, you have a lot of things to consider, and it’s not possible to know the details for every aspect of an event that has to go right. Anyone who has planned or wedding or watch someone else do it, knows that it can be a real ordeal.

However, if you were ever interested in knowing exactly what to ask for or to put a name to lighting you’ve seen at different events, this post is for you!

Uplighting

Uplighting is the first layer of lighting in most events. If you had to pick one method of lighting for a venue, uplighting may be the technique of choice. This lighting technique involves setting battery-powered lights around the perimeter of the room to cast a subtle but encompassing aura of light around the space. They look elegant and refined without much effort at all. If you choose to use soft lighting, they’re even more subtle. Those who wish to make a bit more impact can set the lights to different colors for effect or to match an events color palette.

Texture Lighting

Texture lighting is exactly as it sounds. Various stencils called Gobo’s are used to create shaped within a projection of light so that it appears expanded around the surface that is being projected on. The uses for this are many, you can project things like snowflakes for holiday events or corporate logos for a corporate event, gala, or convention.

If you want a quick way to wow your guests, texture lighting is always a good choice!

Market Lights and String Light Canopies

When you think of the word festive or party, market lights should come to mind in terms of lighting. These are the long strings of light that are often arrayed across outdoor areas. With just string lighting alone, an outdoor area can be made to look like a proper party in no time! We are confident that we have one of the largest selections of market lights in all of Florida with multiple colors available.

String light canopies are similar to market lights, but are—as they name suggests, an overhead canopy of lights that resembles multiple market lights lined up together. If you want an easy, more uniform way of getting that look that market lights provides, string light canopies should be your go to!

Pin Spots

Do you have something you want to highlight at your event? The pin spot was made for such occasions. Pin spots are perfect for drawing attention to those extra special pieces at your event. They are also exceptional at working with minimalistic lighting. As a warm, magnetic fixture, these can be placed at tables around the venue that is otherwise dimly lit or atmospheric.

If you’re looking for lighting specific to aspects of the event, such as a wedding, buffet table, stage lighting, couple spots, or cake spots, we of course do that as well! Each one of these can be light to perfection so that your event truly stands out as a polished experience.
