Welcome back to another edition of our Venue Series. Today, we’ll be talking about the wonderful Alfond Inn. The Alfond Inn at Rollins College is a wonderful Boutique Hotel in Winter Park, FL. Not only is it a stunning building with beautiful grounds but it also features the critically acclaimed Hamilton’s Kitchen—a restaurant inside the hotel that has garnered much praise for their delicious eats.

Looking at the photos, The Alfond Inn is a fine example of modern chic. It boasts a design that at once makes guests comfortable through the liberal use of wood, while complimenting that earthy element with high class designs and sleek outfitting throughout all of the rooms. The result is an experience that feels both extravagant yet not overindulgent.

The Alfond Inn is classified as a boutique hotel, which means that its a (in terms of number of rooms) smaller hotel. However, that won’t impact the size of the venue for events as it is more than enough room to get a party going!

However, one of the major selliing points of boutique hotels is that they are often times more stylish and personalized to the tastes of the locale as opposed to reputable major hotel establishments which must maintain consistency across their locations.

Likewise, the Alfond Inn at Winter Park reflects the tastes of the locale. Classy, business-minded, this venue is prime-time for creating an upscale look. This picture says it all, you can create an intimate atmosphere with uplights and textures yet still play nice with the overall vibe of the venue.

As usual, uplighting and textures provide lighting and effects which can spice up events without getting in the way of guests or visibility. Generally speaking, many events want their lighting to be fairly unoffensive and mostly there to complement the event in a lovely way.

However, sometimes clients have a highly themed party in mind, in which this case the lighting and props are used to create impact on the guests intentionally. Here’s a good example of a highly themed event we’ve done lighting for.

This mitzvah had a camping theme—one which we think was pulled off excellently! One of our major lighting contributions to this event was the draping used for the background which has LED lights throughout to emulate the night sky. This is just one example of many in how lighting can be a central element to an event instead of just providing backdrop, the options are limitless!
