Situated in Orlando, FL, Get Lit Productions has had the pleasure of providing lighting services to many different venues around the state. So many, we’ve decided to put out a series of blog posts detailing some of the most memorable places we’ve done lighting for events in! This first post of 5 for our Venue Series will be showcasing the Bella Collina wedding lighting we’ve done at Bella Collina in Orlando.

The Bella Collina Venue

It would be hard for you to throw your event in Italy and have everyone commit to international travel. A venue like Bella Collina will bring Italy to you! This luxurious venue provides a scenic Tuscan inspired backdrop to your wedding or party like no other place in Orlando can. Boasting a 75,000 sq. ft clubhouse, there will be plenty of space for any kind of event or occasion.

The massive grounds yield several areas that will provide inspiration and pique interest for event-planners as well as lighting experts such as Get Lit. The Grand Lawn is a popular choice for those throwing an outdoor wedding or reception.

Bella Collina Wedding Lighting

One of the best aspects of doing event lighting is the sheer creativity behind it. Sure, there’s the needs of our clients which we always put first, but many of them also appreciate some of our surprises or work that exceeds expectations. When you’re working with a beautiful venue such a Bella Collina, you have to bring your A game!

In our past events at Bella Collina, it is often the case that the Grand Lawn is used in conjunction with The Reflection Pool.

The reflection pool is typically where the open bar is set up. It has the perfect ambiance and proximity to the main event while still providing a respite from the excitement. As such, we feel the lighting serves to rope the area off and designate it as a box that is distinctly different from the Grand Lawn.

Speaking of the Grand Lawn, as we mentioned it’s a fantastic place to hold a wedding or reception. It’s also a great canvas for lighting experts to have a field day in! When you’re doing event lighting, you’re always battling the limitations of the venue to make an impressive display. Some venues are easier to work with than others, Bella Collina is a venue that offers us a lot of flexibility due to the amount of space.

The image above is a perfect example of the many ways you can frame your main event space with lighting. The lights in this photo are hung in a Grand Marquis market lighting design. Not everyone wants to hold their event outside, no matter how beautiful it is. Having a wedding or reception event inside has its own distinct benefits as well. There is less of a focus on overhead string lighting to create atmosphere though they certainly can be used to great effect. A good alternative example is utilizing textures on the ceiling for both lighting and effects.

Overall, the Grand Ballroom is an indoor space that allows for more intimate, subdued lighting to flourish. Don’t get us wrong, you can certainly light the place up and make it vibrant and loud, but indoor areas do have certain advantages over outdoors.

A great way to great a more subdued atmosphere is using uplighting which you’ll see in this picture along the walls. This is also a great example of soft lighting, it doesn’t hurt your eyes and it creates a relaxed mood.
